Dr Vivek Kumar Vaid did his MB; BS from SMS Medical College, Jaipur and MS (General Surgery) from JLN Medical College, Ajmer. He then proceeded to do his MCh (Neurosurgery) from prestigious SGPGIMS, Lucknow. After completion of his basic training in Neurosurgery, he decided to leave a faculty position in the same institute and come back to Jaipur and practice here so that he could benefit patients of his home state. He worked in private sector and was briefly associated with various hospitals as a consultant viz., SDMH, Apex Hospital, Monilek Hospital, Tongia Hospital, etc., before joining Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur where he was instrumental in laying the foundation of Department of Neurosurgery along with eminent neurosurgeon and Head of Department, Dr Hemant Bhartiya. Over last 8 years in Fortis, they together performed 5000 surgeries some of them very complex with satisfactory results. In fact all types of procedures being done at premiere institutes like AIIMS, SGPGIMS,PGIMER,etc are being carried out at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur. Complex brain and spine surgeries ranging from congenital, traumatic, neoplastic (including tumours of skull base and ventricles), infective, vascular anomalies (aneurysms, AVMs, dAVF), and degenerative are being done with good results. Dr Vaid's particular interest is in dealing with craniovertebral junction and vascular anomalies. Persuing his interest in managing vascular anomalies, Dr Vaid did his Fellowship in Interventional Radiology from Zurich under Prof A Valvanis and has now initiated neuro-intervention program in the hospital.

Earlier I have advised for surgery by a spine surgeon in Africa. Someone have suggest me for Dr Vivek Vaid. I came here for surgery but when Dr Vaid examined me, he advised me for physiotherapy and some exercise and told that I was not required surgery. I then completed 3 weeks course of physiotherapy and took medicines given by dr Vaid, now I am very much relive and can walk around 3 Km daily.
